Please find below amendments to IBF and ITF Designated High Risk Areas. Following continued incidents and escalating security threats in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, the IBF Warlike Operations Area Committee (IBF WOAC) has agreed additional measures to support seafarers. With effect from 02 March 2026, the following designations apply:IBF High Risk Area – Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman(See Chart 5 for coordinates. Seafarers are entitled to: * Full information on risks before assignment or immediately if circumstances change; * Bonus equal to basic wage, payable for the duration of stay or transit; * Doubled compensation for death and disability; * Right to refuse sailing, with repatriation at company’s cost and compensation equal to 2 month’s basic wage; * Recommended security measures equivalent to ISPS Level 3. IBF Extended Risk Zone – Gulf of Oman (See Chart 5 for definition) Seafarers are entitled to: * Bonus equal to basic wage, payable only on the day the vessel is attacked in an act of piracy; * Doubled compensation for death and disability if they occur on the day the vessel is attacked; * Increased BMP (Best Management Practices) security level.
